Played anually, the John Deere Classic is the premiere golf event in the Quad Cities area. Held one week before the PGA's (British) Open Championship, TPC Deere Run (Silvis, Il) play's host to some of the biggest names in professional golf.
Intoduced as the "Quad Cities Open" in 1971, the classic was moved to TPC Deere Run in 2000 after John Deere earned the title sponsorship a year prior. The John Deere classic is considered the final chance for non-exempt players to earn entry to the Open with a top 5 finish at the envent. Additionally, since 2008 the JDC has sponsored a charter flight from the Quad Cities to Britain for any Open qualifiers who participated in the event.
